2023: Just Like That, a New York Comeback

In no particular order, here are my favorite songs, or the ones I listened to the most, in 2023. The complete playlist is shared on Apple Music, or scroll to end of this post.

And just like that your life can change
Look what the angels send
I lay my head upon his chest
And I was with my boy again
I spent so long in darkness
Never thought the night would end
But somehow grace has found me
And I had to let him in

Two outs nobody on base
We’re down to the last strike
Could hear a pin drop in this place
Hoping for miracle tonight

I keep my walls up, I’m trying to change that,
You are my hometown, feels like a flashback.
I hear your sweet song and every word I sing,
I’ve seen enough fake to know the real thing.

Take mine, I got some I ain’t usin’
Take mine, it won’t feel like losin’
’Cause when love, love was all I needed
God knows you gave me yours
So take mine darlin’

I hope you find your true north
I hope you make some dreams come true
I hope you learn early that the love you give all comes right back to you
I hope you get up every time you fall
And you get back in again
But if you only get one thing that’s a given
I hope you have happy children

Hey insecurity
You try on all my clothes
It just occurred to me
That you may live in my phone
You tell me I don’t fit in
Push me close to quittin’

Jim Andralis (featuring Larry Krone)

You are the sun, I am the moon
You are the words, I am the tune
Play me
Neil Diamond

So kiss me the way that you would
If we died tonight
Hold me the way that you would
For the final time

Hey my little evening star
How bright you are
Anywhere you go
You’re not alone

I know it hurts like hell right now and only you know how
No one can tell you when
Oh, but love is gonna come again

Forget tomorrow,
We can face the music then.
But I promise you tonight will never end,
If we pretend
We’re more than friends

I would never fall in love again until I found her
I said, “I would never fall unless it’s you I fall into”
I was lost within the darkness, but then I found her
I found you

I can buy myself flowers
Write my name in the sand
Talk to myself for hours
Say things you don’t understand

Cause it’s cold out there
And you know some men search for ages
For the love that I have found
So I will stand my ground

Are you going away with no word of farewell
Will there be not a trace left behind
Well, I could’ve loved you better, didn’t mean to be unkind
You know that was the last thing on my mind

Tom Paxton

Іѕ thеrе а bаr uр there
Where уоu’vе gоt а fаvоrіtе сhаіr?
Whеrе уоu ѕіt wіth frіеndѕ
And tаlk аbоut thе wеаthеr?

So I went and travelеd far and wide
Looking for lovers to satiate my pride
But all their kisses couldn’t compare to you
So I kept moving along

Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time
You were always on my mind

I smell like beer
Nobody wants me here
But at least I’m the king of downtown
Don’t pick me up
Just fill that cup
And toast to the king of downtown

So gather around them
It’s time to sing
It’s bittersweet but it’s a hell of a silver lining

I don’t wanna take the world for granted
While I’m still tryna understand it
The more I live, I am convince
Everyone just wants to be in love

I’m still learning how to trust a heart
That’s forever changing its mind
Try to listen close to what she wants
Not be too scared what I’ll find

Won’t you pull me out of the riptide
Pull me into the sun light

God only knows where this could go
And even if our love starts to grow outta control
And you and me go up in flames
Heaven won’t be the same

You’re my metaphor
Guess I’m la-la-low
I’ll keep dreaming of

They’ll remember us

Just when I think the feeling’s gone
I can’t let go, I still belong
To a love that changes everything
You make me feel, you make think
To love
Love someone like you
